Tagore Song: Where, where does the road end—what lies at the end? (Pother Shesh Kothai)

Reading Time: < 1 minute

Where, where does the road end—what lies at the end?
Where could so much desire and devotion blend?
Waves wail as they rise and fall; dense darkness looms
Surely, surely there’s a shore ahead, but in which country could it be?
This day, forlorn, I wonder: am I chasing a mirage pointlessly?
So frightening to think there can be no end to such craving and hurting
And to be a helm-less, sail-torn hurt boat, into the unknown drifting!
